Why I Chose Board Certification
I started my law practice in Iowa in 1978, and after just a couple of years doing "everything", I began trying to limit my work to plaintiffs tort cases.
As a rural, agricultural state, our Supreme Court, and state bar, has always been reluctant to create sanctioned specialty designations.
Yet, as I traveled around the country , worked more with lawyers from those states which did so, and became more active in trial bar associations, I became more and more convinced of the value of such designations, for the good of the public.
Therefore, when I first heard of NBTA in 1988, I jumped at the chance, and became certified.
Since that time I have proctored exams, have been our State coordinator, and have done whatever possible to promote the viability of this excellent certifying organization.
As to my personal experiences, I include in my advertising that I am one of only 6 certified in the Council Bluffs\Omaha metro as a civil trial specialist, and frankly, I'm really proud of that. I pass out the NBTA "Recognizing QUALIFIED Trial Representation" brochure to all new or prospective clients.
Many, many clients have commented how interested they were in that information, but more importantly, how much more comfortable they felt with that knowledge.
I strongly encourage anyone who meets the requirements, to apply for NBTA recognition.
