Why I Chose Board Certification
I took the exams for the National Board of Advocacy in 1980 in San Francisco. I had it in mind from the start that I wanted to be one of the best in advocacy; it was clear the power interests in America had the money and political establishment to crush the poor, disabled and disenfranchised; regardless of the merits of their cases and the injustice done.
There was one thing they could not buy; brains and tenacity; the ability to use the legal system, no matter how skewed to their side, to keep a good lawyer from fighting through and finally getting before a jury.
I undertook to do just that. Now, twenty years later, I have had several major trial victories for over several million dollars, have briefed and argued 80 appellate cases in the state, federal and U.S. Supreme Court.
I deal now strictly by referral from doctors and attorneys. My certification and the programs that came after was a major part of it; it made me realize the brotherhood of we who wanted to achieve high standards in our careers and put me in touch with the best.
From a small desert town of fifty souls I now practice all over the Western United States and have had a wonderful career. Need I say more about the value of NBTA ?
