Why I Chose Board Certification
As Maine's Coordinator for the NBTA, I want to express my sentiments regarding what Board Certification means in the legal profession and community, generally.
The NBTA offers the only truly objective standard for assessing trial advocacy skills. While Board Certification does require judicial and lawyer recommendations, the primary focus is upon objective analysis of trial briefs, trial work and a comprehensive written test. All of the foregoing provide the necessary independent standards that make the NBTA Board Certification difficult to obtain and highly rewarding.
I believe the NBTA Board Certification is the best credential a trial lawyer can achieve. My experience among lawyers, Judges, clients, the media and the public-at-large is that the NBTA Board Certification is a highly respected standard and understood as an uncommon achievement among trial lawyers.
I encourage all trial lawyers to consider applying for Board Certification. It is a credential that will greatly benefit you both personally and professionally.
