The NBTA certification has benefited me.

Why I Got Board Certified
Mississippi has no bar certification process in place which leaves a gap in the knowledge available to Mississippi residents when selecting an attorney. The public is increasingly more aware of specialization by attorneys, but does not have the available means to make an informative decision in the selection process. For this reason, it is thought to be beneficial to the public to recognize certain areas of specialization, and be in a position to select from those qualified. The National Board of Trial Advocacy certification provides additional helpful information to the public. As among attorneys, when referrals are needed, this certification process gives assurances to the referring attorney.
NBTA certification has benefited me: there have been several cases where attorneys have made referrals, and/or initial contacts based on NBTA certification. Perhaps that is due to the knowledge and familiarity of the bar with the National Board of Trial Advocacy, as opposed to that of the general public. As the public becomes more informed, certification will be of greater value and service.

Choose a Board Certified Trial Lawyer
All lawyers are not created equal, but all lawyers are free to take any case they want, regardless of whether they've proven themselves.
NBTA board certification provides both consumers and other lawyers looking to refer cases with an objective credential.
It just makes great sense to choose a board certified trial lawyer over a non-certified lawyer.
